In this episode, I check out one of Denver’s hottest downtown neighborhoods, the lower highlands (LoHi). Offering both eclectic modern architecture and historic Victorian homes, with one of the nation's most progressive food scenes. We look at some modern condos and take a visit to one of the pioneers of the Denver food scene, Justin Brunson, owner of Old Major and Masterpiece Deli.

LoHi Neighborhood Highlights

An eclectic mix of modern architecture and historic homes, the Lower Highlands is the epitome of the Denver urban lifestyle. Often called LoHi, this neighborhood is known for being an active and hip urban part of the city, attracting business professionals, singles, and new families. The neighborhood is near Downtown Denver, with direct access to all that downtown life has to offer. Filled with some of Denver’s most popular restaurants, bars, coffee shops, and places to hang out, LoHi attracts residents from all over the city and surrounding suburbs. Have a nice meal at Linger, enjoy ice cream from the famous Little Man Ice Cream, or take a short walk across the Highland Bridge to breweries, restaurants, and more in Downtown Denver. Despite being such a popular area of town, the residential areas still hold a neighborhood feel with tree-lined streets and a range of home styles.

Gardens and parks pepper the neighborhood. The Cherry Creek and Platte River Trails are nearby, inviting residents to explore the beautiful outdoors and spectacular Colorado weather. Bookstores, boutique shops, and art galleries can be found throughout LoHi, especially in Highlands Square and the nearby River North Arts District. Life in LoHi is diverse and exciting, while also quiet and peaceful. It is a neighborhood with a bit of something for everyone and always offers something new to explore and experience.
